George County Fair 2026
Three-minute highlight of the 2026 George County Fair in Lucedale: midway lights, rides, and the weeklong hometown energy on Old Highway 63 South.
Every October, Lucedale fills up with fair food, 4-H livestock, church booths, and midway lights. The George County Fair traces its roots to about 1914, when Mrs. John Hanse Parker's Tomato Club and a few neighbors put on the first exhibits and even hauled them to Mobile by train. For decades the Board of Supervisors ran it. After a gap, the Lucedale/George County Jaycees brought the fair back in 1972 and moved it to its home on Old Highway 63 South, where they built the exhibit hall that still anchors fair week.
When the Jaycees disbanded around 1990, the Lucedale Rotary Club stepped in. Rotary still sponsors the fair today, working with the Mississippi State University Extension Service and George County. Rotary members work the gates, Extension runs the exhibits and livestock shows, and the county keeps up the fairgrounds at 9162 Old Highway 63 South. After expenses, fair proceeds go back into local scholarships and civic projects.
In 2026 the fair runs October 12 to 17. Gates open at 5 p.m. on weeknights. It is still the week the whole county shows up for each other.
